Christmas Fun

Oh how we love Christmas! The lights, the fun and the busyness of the holiday is so exciting and yet tiring too!!! :) Since Stephen and I both work full time right now, and our days off are few and far between, we try to make the most of the time with have with the kids! Christmas was a lot like that this year (we are hoping I will be staying at home with the kids full time by Christmas 2010!).

We started December watching Wynton and Cecelia perform with their preschool classes. Cecelia had her songs downpat and would walk around the house belting them out at every chance she got...i think Wynton got a little annoyed listening to her! :) Shake those jingle bells girl!

Wynton and his class cracked us up with their "shades" on as they came out for their first song..he was too focused to even look at the camera but never missed a beat of his songs! Wow, were they good!

A few days before Christmas a small snow storm came through and the kids enjoyed getting all geared up to play in the snow (mainly ice in our neck of the woods). It was beautiful and we are hopeful (in some ways) that this is a sign for early 2010 that we will enjoy more of the white stuff and maybe even get to actually sled down the hill in our neighborhood!

And then...it was Christmas! YEAH!! Santa arrived with no worries (though i think Wynton was asking WAY too many questions this year regarding how Santa would get in our "fireplace" since we have gas logs and no chimney...now seriously that is how smart our 5 year old is! SCARY!! :)) Wynton was greeted with a Lite Brite (now all you people who lived through the 70's and 80's i am sure remember the old Lite Brites) and LOVES it! I will post pictures of his own creations soon. Cecelia is all about princesses these days and loves playing in her Princess Castle. Stephen and i decided after the kids were born that we would help the kids to focus on the real reason for Christmas which is Jesus. So, gifts are kept to a minimum (which is also great on the budget i might add!) and each child receives 3 gifts (just as Jesus did from the Wisemen) from the two of us. It is a really nice focus for the season and seems to leave a great impression on others who are ready to go to that focus as well. Believe me, they still get plenty of gifts from grandparents but it makes it nice that we can enjoy the day for what it really means too!

We spent a fun Christmas Day with the Clark Family and lots of kids! Some of the family we don't see often so it was nice to play Wii, catch up with the sisters-in-law and eat some great food--thanks to Jeff & Tanya!

Now we have turned the corner to 2010! YEAH!! We come into this year with mixed emotions knowing that (hopefully & prayerfully) we won't be in the same place we are now at the end of 2010. Stephen is tiring so of his daily drive to Winston Salem and we are yearning to settle our family down together in a slower pace of life than we have now! We will dearly miss our friends and the comfort of our wonderful church family...but we know God's plan is perfect! Please continue to keep us in your prayers as God unveils his plan for our family. We are exicted to see what He has in store for us! We pray the same for your families too!
